Welcome to Meister Omers
Below hopefully offers most, if not all, of the information that you will need about sending your child to Meister Omers.

If you have any questions, please get in touch!
Our ethos
Meister Omers subscribes wholeheartedly to the School's Boarding Principles and Practice.

The ethos of the house should become apparent from spending time in Meister Omers, but these are the principles that inform decisions on the running of the house on a day-to-day basis.
Respect
For yourself, each other and all the staff working hard within the House as well as the wider environment.
Community
Supporting each member of the House, helping when they are in need and congratulating them for any success. Learning to live with each other. Becoming lifelong friends.
Commitment
Taking part to the best your ability is what counts, not the result. This applies to academic, artistic and sporting involvement at King’s. Boys need to find and develop their own particular talent to the highest level, whilst also being prepared to “muck in” with general efforts in other fields.
If we all do the small things well, the bigger things will take care of themselves.
Staffing & Supervision
The Housemaster (HsM) and his family live in the building. Mr Singfield is almost always in the building overnight and is in House during the day if not teaching, coaching sport or in the Staff Common Room. He can be reached on his mobile (07810507367) or office phone (01227595517).

The Deputy Housemaster lives just outside of the Precincts. He does an evening duty on Sundays and two lock up duties during the week. In the case of HsM illness or absence from the House, he will take over the position of HsM with all its attendant duties. He can be reached on his mobile (07789927751).

The Resident Mentor lives in the building and covers the House on occasion. He does an evening duty and assists with two lock-ups per week.

The Matrons/PCAs have an office on the first floor of the House. They cover the House according to the three-week timetable that is displayed on the ground floor notice board. Their office phone number is 01227595519.

The whole school is covered by Night Matrons overnight and are available using the mobile number 07921687157.

Duty rota
The Mentors are on duty from 18:30-21:30 as follows:
Monday - Mr Ramdunnie
Tuesday - Mr Dunn
Wednesday - Dr Cardinal
Thursday - Mr Reiser
Friday - Mr Skillern
Saturday - Mr & Mrs Singfield
Sunday - Mr Landymore

The House Monitors are 6a pupils who help to get the younger year groups to bed and are encouraged to be the Housemaster's ''eyes and ears'' in the House to detect any misbehaviour or distress. This is a ''round-the-clock'' role and one that they apply to attain during the 6b year.

The 6bs on a rota are on duty outside the Shell dormitories throughout evening prep to ensure a quiet and productive working environment in the House between 19:00-20:30.

Sobriety
Pupils should use the new ‘Reach’ system to sign in and out of the house (and other areas of the school). Pupils should seek permission to leave the house for any reason in the evenings. The same goes for any visitors during the day. Pupils should not be in the house dorms and only share the common areas. Permission should be requested before a visitor arrives at the house.
Television is not allowed during lesson time without the permission of the Housemaster. Boys must respect the Common Room and keep it in a clean & tidy state. If there is a sports match on during evening duty, permission must be sought from the mentor on duty in order for it to be watched.

None of these items are to be used after lights out. Shell, Removes, and Fifths must hand in all phones, iPads, and laptops 15 minutes before their bedtime.

21:45 - Shell
22:00 - Remove
22:15 - Fifth
22:30 - 6b
22:45 - 6a

Permission must be obtained by an adult, preferably via e-mail by noon on the Thursday evening before the requested exeat. If the exeat means a pupil will miss lessons or other school commitments, then two weeks’ notice should be sought. As a rule, there are only 3 exeats allowed per term. Exeats begin after all school commitments, including sport, have been honoured on the Saturday and you should be back by 21.30 at the latest on the Sunday. You should report to the duty member of staff when you are back. Exeats should not be taken on the first and last weekend of each term and we ask that new pupils do not take an exeat for the first two weeks in the autumn term. There are two fixed exeats one in the first half of the autumn term and one in the first half of the lent term. Pupils may spend all or parts of a Sunday with their parents if prior notice is given via email. This should be after Matins, or before Evensong depending on which service is scheduled for that day.

Theft is abhorrent and creates a corrosive atmosphere in the House. It is against the law of the land as well as being against school rules. Boys caught stealing could face a criminal record as well as serious school sanctions as advised by the Senior Deputy Head. However, it is up to everyone to minimise the risk of theft by doing the following:
- Using a safe
- Give any loose pocket money to Mr Singfield to be stored in the House Bank
- Open a bank account so that money is not left around
- Do not enter other pupil rooms when they are not present

Only 6th Formers may use the front garden, but no ball games are allowed except the sensible use of a croquet set. The back garden may be used after 21:00. Shells must be in House by 21:30 and everyone else by 21:45. Sensible ball games are allowed (soft balls only - e.g., footballs). The HsM will open and close the garden depending on its suitability. Nobody should climb the walls or use inappropriate language. Doing so will result in them being banned from using the garden for a period of time.

Must be handed in to Mr Singfield for safekeeping. These will be returned to the boys, along with any tickets, at the end of half term or term on the day they leave the House (or otherwise where necessary).

Saturday evening until 5pm on Sunday only. All rubbish must be disposed of in the waste-bins.

All pupils must be sober throughout their time in Meister Omers. If this is not the case, the HsM and Senior Leadership will agree on a relevant sanction.
